I perfectly recollect Her late Majesty making a Distinction between the different sets of Jewels, making use of the term "they "are not my own" in speaking of some of them. --I believe this term applied to all the Jewels which she distinguished on the Outside of the cases in which they are contained, as having been found on the Queen's Arrival in England; but more particularly recollect it's having been applied to the Brilliant Stauncher & Nosegay, as also to the Set of Pearls, excepting the large Pearl Drop in the Center of the Necklace, which Her Majesty said, belonged to Mecklenburg. --I have never heard Her Majesty make use of the term "they are not "my own" when speaking of the large brilliant Drops, which are denominated as the Gift of the Nabol, but have always considered them as The Queen's own Property. /signed/ Sophie Beckecloff.
