January 1st.-- 1819 [[/note]] [[underline]] Copy [[/underline]] I heard The King say once that these were Jewels worn & used by The Queen which She ought not to dispose of; but which these were He did not specify. The Queen has remarked frequently, that She considered The Jewels presented to Her by the Stabol of Ascot, as Her own, & whatever Presents The King had made Her since Her Marriage, as Her own, and at Her own Disposal.-- She has said more than once to me, that come Jewels which She wore She looked upon as The King's and that She had marked them. The King has stated repeatedly in my hearing that these were no Crown Jewels, as She had bought whatever He gave The Queen. /signed/ Sophy. January 1st:-- 1819.
