[[underline]] Copy [[/underline]] I have always understood from The King, that these were no Crown Jewels. -- I have heard The King say that some of the Jewels He did not look upon as The Queen's to dispose of as She pleased, but I never heard Him specify any one particular Article. -- The Queen always told me, the large Stones that came form the Stabols of Ascot, were presents made to Herself, and the large Emerald in the Shape of a Shell, was a Legacy left Her by one of the Stabol's wives or Mothers. /signed/ Mary Windsor Castle Dec. 31st: 1819.
