[[image]] From the Librarian, Windsor Castle, Berkshire. These 4 volumes, containing the original MSS of the Hon. Robert Fulke Greville, were bought by Queen Elizabeth in October 1940, and by Her Majesty presented to the Royal Library. The 1st Earl of Warwick had 3 sons:- 1. George Greville, who became 2nd Earl; 2. Charles Greville, the better-known diarist; 3. this Robert Fulke Greville (1751-1824). Robert married Louisa, Countess of Mansfield in her own right; they had amongst other issue a daughter (Lady Louisa Greville) who married the Revd. Daniel Heneage Finch- Hatton, younger brother of the 10th Earl of Winchelsea. The eldest son of this union, Brigadier General E.H. Finch-Hatton, died as a Military Knight of Windsor in 1940: it was from his widow that Her Majesty bought these books, for £60. Almost all of the MS has been printed in "The Diaries of Robert Fulke Greville", edited by F. McKno Bladon (John Lane, 1930). The copy in the Royal Library has been collated with these MSS and the differences noted. O.F. M.
