to support for any length of time the Life which We have led for the last two years, and more Especially the Treatment which We have experienced whenever any Proposal has been made for Our Absenting Ourselves for a few days from the Queen's Roof, either with a view to that Relaxation which it is natural and we trust not unreasonable that at Our Ages We should occasionally seek, or in Compliance with the Expression of your Pleasure respectively conveyed to Us. We conceive indeed that We have a Right to claim such Latitude, that the Prospect of it was connected with the increased Allowance made to Us last year, and We are Confident that We shall never be blamed in the exercise of that Discretion which it does not exceed the Bounds of Prosperity and Moderation You are fully informed of the Treatment from the Queen, to which Our Compliance with your last invitation exposed Us; the Circumstances were generally stated to you and were more particularly stated afterwards in two Letters written by Eliza and Mary which the Queen saw, and to the Necessity of writing which We were reduced by Her showing Us that which She had addressed to You and the Tenor and Expressions of which must alone have afforded sufficient proof of the Queen's Anger upon that Occasion You will therefore not be surprized that we should repeat to you Our Declaration, that We must abandon all thoughts of ever complying with any Invitation from you or with any Wishes or Arrangement which shall require Our Absenting Ourselves [[catchword]] from [[/catchword]]
