On not writing sooner; 'The Kings Lev? Was very full last Wednesday, & Our Thursdays Court like a Birth day owing to the long expected & glorious knews from Sr Henry Clinton, which came so a propos, that one must be totally void of all feeling if one does not deny particularly discover the hand of Providence in Our favour at this critical moment'; on the illness of Lady Willoughby; illness of Lord Althrope; illness of the Dowager Lady Harrington; on Elizabeth: 'I greatly admire Elizabeth steadiness in going into the Sea when she found the thought of it disagreable & horrible it is that power over herself in which I trust she will feel hereafter great comfort in life'; on bathing: 'I feel happy in not being a Spectator when they are about that dreadful operation of bathing'; 'the King went to the House of Lords, the speech appears to me & proves to the rest of the World not only good, but very proper upon the occasion'; on Lord Mansfield's speech in the House of Lords; on the Feilding family.
