Title

Letter from Princess Augusta to the Prince Regent

Date Created

28 August 1815

Creator

Augusta Sophia, Princess

Description

Augusta communicates to the Prince Regent that she, as well as her sisters, feels obliged to refuse the invitation to the event he will be hosting; this because they wish not to distance themselves from the Queen's line of conduct. They sent their most sincere wishes to Ernest and the Duchess of Cumberland

[The occasion Augusta refers to is the resolemnisation of the marriage between Ernest and his cousin Frederica, which, with the permission and support of the Prince Regent, took place in London on 29 August 1815. Queen Charlotte opposed the marriage and refused to attend the wedding.]
