Date Created

18 September 1798

Augusta Sophia, Princess

Description

Augusta reports the Queen's plan on how to proceed with Mr Battine's matter [in a previous letter to the Queen, George asked for the son of Dr William Battine senior, William Battine, to replace Sir William Scott as King's Advocate, since Scott is, in turn, to be promoted to the office which has been made vacant by Sir James Marriott; see "The Correspondence of George Prince of Wales, 1770-1812", ed. A. Aspinall, vol. III (1795-1798), no 1381, p. 459]. All is well in the family; the day before the King reviewed the Dorsetshire Yeomanry and today he goes to the review of the Berks Militia.
